Posted by staff / March 6, 2012In 2003, artist Doris Salcedo filled the empty space between two buildings in Istanbul with 1,550 wooden chairs stacked seemingly haphazardly, but with a message that was more carefully constructed. Salcedo said the 1,550 chairs evoke “the masses of faceless migrants who underpin our globalized economy.” Sit on that.
