50 quotes from the legendary Bob Ross

Posted by / October 31, 2015

Ah, happy little trees and snow-covered cabins peeking out of the forest, trademarks of PBS’ artist-in-residence Bob Ross.

His show, The Joy of Painting, aired from 1983 to 1985, and through it all, he encouraged his audience of amateur painters and people who were just looking for a calm voice in the midst of the chaos, to do their best and enjoy the simple pleasures in life.

In honor of his birthday, Katherine Brooks at Huffington Post gathered these fifty quotes to keep the spirit of happy trees alive and well.

  1. “There’s nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.”

  2. “The secret to doing anything is believing that you can do it. Anything that you believe you can do strong enough, you can do. Anything. As long as you believe.”

  3. “We don’t make mistakes. We just have happy accidents.”

  4. “I think there’s an artist hidden at the bottom of every single one of us.”

  5. “You too can paint almighty pictures.”

  6. “No pressure. Just relax and watch it happen.”

  7. “Don’t forget to make all these little things individuals — all of them special in their own way.”
