Beautiful shots of single snowflakes

Russian photographer Alexey Kljatov lights his unique snowflake subjects with a flashlight and uses a piece of dark wool as a backdrop for these tiny natural masterpieces.
It’s a view we rarely, if ever, enjoy as they melt away on our mittens, but thanks to these shots, we’ll be sure to look more closely this winter.
