If you happened to be on the island of Guam and saw a strange payload being dropped with wee tiny cardboard parachutes, it wasn’t an alien invasion, just business as usual for the US government.

Snakes have been plaguing the native wildlife and wreaking havoc on power grid as well, so the purpose of this most unusual operation was to poison the invaders one meal at a time. Laced with acetaminophen, the dead mice shouldn’t cause harm to other wildlife, but as they hang in the trees from their parachutes, they should lure the invasive brown tree snakes being targeted.

Some mice are equipped with devices able to transmit signals on whether or not they’ve been consumed to see if the mission is successful.

Can you imagine being the person stuck with the job of tying all those dead rodents to parachutes? Yikes.
