The app that simulates synesthesia for the rest of us [video]
Posted by staff / February 11, 2012Ever wonder what it would be like to hear colors? Now there’s an app to simulate what those who have that nifty neurological condition known as sound synesthesia experience thanks to artist Perry Hall.
According to the Sonified site:
A real time instrument, Sonified uses your iPhone/iPad’s video camera to translate qualities of light and color into music, a process called “sonification.” Using Sonified allows the iPhone and iPad user to connect vision and sound in new ways, creating video and soundtrack at the same time.

Full story at Sonified via The Daily Beast.
Kate– did you even read the article written by Wired and Neurotribes’ Steve Silberman, or download the app? The music on the Sonified "Drive" video is being mixed in real time by what the camera is seeing on an iPhone! Check out the acts, check out the facts. I think its prestty darn amazing, and definitely has not been done before
Neat video, I also found a pretty cool synaesthesia experience simulation, it is actually for a book promotion oddly enough! – http://www.panterapress.com.au/synaesthesia
The non fiction book walks readers through what is it like to have the condition. Super interesting!
