The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence [video]

In 1975, the Muppets targeted a more mature audience with a pilot for ABC titled The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence. The half-hour-long variety show parodied the growing amount of bang bang shoot ‘em ups and bam chicka wa waa shown on television.
While the TV special carries the “Muppet Show” name, it is definitely not The Muppet Show audiences came to love a few years later. Jim Henson used Sex and Violence, along with another pilot titled The Muppets Valentine Show, as prototypes for what would eventually become the beloved television classic.
