Here’s why old buildings have the same leaf design

Once you watch this video, you will never be able to unsee the leaf design on old buildings. Those leaves are called acanthus leaves. A Roman writer describes a myth about that leaf, which helped inspire the popularity of this leafy design. This video walks you trough this history of column design (which everyone kind of remembers from middle school social studies, right?) and explains the origins of this design, as well as where it still appears today.
