Childish Gambino’s “This Is America,” explained

The video is beguiling at first, but if you take one or two watches you’ll start to see a few themes. First, note how guns are treated in the video. Guns get more respect than people do. There are also some racial themes that require background knowledge; f0r example, one of Childish Gambino’s poses looks like a Jim Crow era poster.

The first time I heard the song I did not know what to feel, but as i listened to it a couple more times I realized the troubles his country is facing and thats why he’s singing about it! I respect that good for him!
