Why do people collect shark teeth?
Posted by staff / August 5, 2010Sharks can have up to 15 rows of teeth growing behind their front row of chompers, so it’s no surprise how many shark teeth litter beaches. But why do people collect them?
Something that many people may not realize is that sharks have no bones. Once the cartilage of a dead shark is gone, the only thing left is its razor-sharp teeth — made of calcified tissue called dentine and hard enamel. But why are people so into collecting the teeth?
