How a stray dog saved a litter of puppies
Posted by staff / August 29, 2010If you’re in grinch mode today, this story is sure to warm your frigid heart. When somebody abandoned twelve very young puppies in a small town in the Southeast of Brazil, a group of dog rescuers arrived on the scene—but they weren’t the first responders. A spayed stray dog had already found the tiny babies, and protectively sat down next to them, guarding them from passersby. Very carefully, the rescue team coaxed the ‘new mom’ to lay on her side.
Almost immediately, her maternal instincts kicked in. And within a few short hours, she produced enough milk to feed the five-week-old pups. This was crucial since the babies were so tiny they had to be fed every two hours. Incredible.
