Of course your own human mother tops the list, but since that’s a given, Jill Harness at Neatorama compiled this list of the eight runners-up to the title of “Best Mom” in the animal kingdom. Whether it’s enduring a twenty-two-month-long pregnancy, holing up for months on end or starving themselves for the sake of their young, there are plenty of animal and insect mamas who go the distance for their darlings.
