Preschooler learns sharing is good, drugs are bad in hard lesson
Posted by staff / January 27, 2012Sharing is one of the big lessons preschool teachers seek to instill in their charges, but sharing packages of marijuana might cause a run on the snack table even the best prepared instructor is unable to handle.
In an extremely sad turn of events, a four-year-old boy in Meriden, Connecticut was happy to show his teacher what he had brought to share with his classmates during snack time, not knowing he had brought in the last thing she would be happy to see, nine bags of marijuana that appeared to be ready for sale.
“What’s so disheartening is this is really an adult issue and problem and adult behavior put a student at risk,” Meriden schools superintendent Mark Benigni told Reuters.
“This student had no idea what he brought to school or what the substance was,” he added.
Fortunately, he had gone to his teacher first, so no other students were exposed to the drugs, and further investigations are being conducted by police and the Department of Children and Families. We hope, though, that his generous nature survives such a trial.
