A brief history of the Tacoma Narrows bridge disaster

This video explains how such a terrible bridge got built in the first place––read: budget considerations––and what was done to fix it––read: basically nothing. The video also explains why there was so much footage of the bridge rocking. Basically, the rocking bridge became a tourist attraction. Fortunately, only a few cars were on the bridge when it started to collapse. The people in the cars managed to get out, but there was a dog in one of the cars that couldn’t get out, despite rescue attempts.
