Fellow Smart guys (Andre, John, Steve and who-knows-who else): The false killer whale is the third-largest member of the oceanic dolphin family (Delphinidae) and Sharks are fish. This article is correct.

Come on guys, read the story again and hit The Google…. The story did not say these were Killer Whales… It said they are False Killer Whales which is completely different and yes, a part of the Dolphin family. They are name so because they share similarities with the Killer Whale, nothing more.

  • Well, it looks like a shark, but those are not killer whales. Heck even “Killer Whales” are not whales. Normal people refer to “killer whales” as Orcas, the largest of the porpoise family.

  • BOOYA

They are FALSE Killer Whales…totally different physical appearance than the more commonly known ORCA.

  • Tim S

I love how Google makes everyone an instant marine biologist.

  • you all sound like a bunch of DOUCH BAGS

  • Mike

I pray that you get a writer and an editor that know how to spell “prey”.

  • Those are just small fish chasing a guppy.

  • FunFacts

    Killer Whales are actually dolphins

  • Rob

“PRAY” is actually spelled “PREY”…perhaps an editor for your site? Might increase views? That and a quick google search on what a killer whale (Orca) looks like…

  • Gil

Are you saying Killer Whales “pray” for their “prey” before they eat?

  • When I was a kid in Hawaii 1970-1973, False Killer Whales were the stars of the show at Sea Life Park.

  • Patrick

The report is a bit sensationalized. “The hunter becoming the hunted!” Some fish eat other fish. Many sharks are scavengers, not hunters.

  • Wolf

Those are adult dolphins who are protecting a dolphin pup by chasing and eliminating a hammerhead shark who is out to kill their offspring. This is perfectly natural survival behavior that can be observed in any species. Dolphins don’t bite sharks but punch the shark’s belly with their pointed snout (beak) until it succumbs and drowns. This natural dolphin behavior has reportedly saved many sailor’s lives who appear to be “mistaken” by adult dolphins for dolphin pups or perhaps “relatives” in need.

  • OK, wrong shark, completely chasing the wrong shark. Will somebody please take the “Shark” Vacuum Infomercial Dude and throw him to these Killer Whales? Enough of the vacuum infomercials for God’s sake.

  • They are False Killer Whales, not Dolphins

  • Glock Guy

What the heck is a false killer whale?
