Forget living on Mars or the moon, why not conquer the wild, blue yonder filling the planet’s crevices? That’s the idea behind the Green Float city, a concept developed in Japan that grows like a lily on a pond.

Each city cell is one kilometer wide and could either float on its own for those who crave a more small-town feel or hook up with other cities to create urban centers. The floating population islands would be,

“like a single plant, blend[ing] into and living and growing harmoniously with Nature as part of the ecosystem.”

Hmmm, another Biosphere or the wave of the future?
