Goats are the new weed-whackers
Posted by staff / July 12, 2010Two years ago, the Community Redevelopment Agency of Los Angeles hired a pack of goats to crop a hillside city park in Bunker Hill—and the little bearded cuties are doing excellent work. The goats, who belong to Johnny Gonzalez, get a bad rap for being ‘destroyers’, but the fact is they pass over the natural plants and do away with invasive weeds and grasses. So far, the munchers have saved the city upwards of $3000 in environmentally un-friendly weed killers and weed whackers. Plus, passersby get a kick out of watching them work.
