Inside a Chinese steel mill

China’s pollution problem is no secret, and as the global community seeks to collectively address the issue of man-made climate change, Getty Images took the opportunity to give the world a look inside one huge cause in Inner Mongolia, a steel mill.
When one is raised on stories from the heyday of Pittsburgh’s mill boom and sees one of the last remnants in operation every day (with the soot on the window sills as a constant reminder), these photos aren’t quite as jarring. If not, it’s worth pondering if these are the manufacturing jobs we’re looking for to make a comeback.
