If you have ever wondered ‘what’s in it for me’ before helping a stranger, it means you’re probably a jerk, according to a new study.
Researchers from a few disciplines have created a mathematical model in an attempt to understand why some people exhibit altruistic behaviour and some don’t and the result is a test that you can take.
This is the upshot of the study: If you try to determine whether there’s a payoff for you, you’re likely a jerk.
There’s more to it of course. Interesting, if not earth-shattering. We all know jerks but are you one of them?
