Light up summer nights with DIY tin can lanterns
Posted by staff / June 13, 2016Nothing like the soft glow of candlelight to add ambiance to a summer evening, yet there’s no reason to spend a fortune on holders if you have a few extra cans in the recycling bin.
Inhabitat’s Emily Peckenham offers a simple seven-step tutorial to create fun lights you can also have fun coloring for daytime display.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2-4 cleaned, empty tin cans (you can use any size)
- a hammer
- an assortment of nails (for larger or smaller holes)
- colorful permanent markers
- paper, pencil, masking tape, scissors (if you plan to use a pattern)
- votive candles
- a towel
