My Status is Not a Secret: A Brave Campaign Seeks to Humanize HIV
Posted by staff / May 2, 2014 Advisorie GroupAidsGet testedhealthHIVknow your statuslifeParker Trewinsexual orientationsocioeconomic statusAccording to the CDC, every nine and a half minutes, someone in the U.S. is infected with HIV and out of every 6 people living with HIV, 1 is unaware that they are infected. While 34% of the people infected are between the ages of 16 and 29, the disease does not discriminate age, socioeconomic status, or sexual orientation. It’s important for ALL people to know their status and not be afraid to share it.
My Status is Not a Secret is a powerful campaign pioneered by AIDS/LifeCycle participant Parker Trewin, in conjunction with Column Five and the Advisorie Group. The site features in-depth interviews with, and user-submitted responses from, women and men- both HIV positive and negative- discussing the importance of knowing their HIV status. Take control over your actions, your health, and your future by knowing your status and allow the wisdom and strength of others to encourage you to seek the truth. Participate with us in giving HIV a human face.
