The road from punk to electronic music

It may seem hard to believe that something like “God Save the Queen” and “Sandstorm” could be connected, but it’s true. This video lays out the fascinating evolution that led from bands like the Sex Pistols to Darude. Much of that evolution hinges on the introduction of the synthesizer to punk, ushering in the post-punk movement. Post-punk––think New Order––is already close to electronica. And from there it’s a short jump to something like Kraftwerk.
