The colorful past of processed chicken

It’s pink, it’s puffy and it’s what eventually turns into your five-piece chicken nuggets, that spicy chicken sandwich and pretty much anything that can be shaped from this goo called mechanically-separated chicken.

What looks like a new strawberry Dairy Queen special is actually what a whole – yes, whole – chicken looks like once it’s been pressed through a sieve. You wouldn’t want a spoonful of this bacteria-laden brew before it has had its ammonia bath and rinse, though, which makes it squeaky clean and tasteless. Throw in a dash of artificial flavoring and a whole lot of artificial coloring, and there you have it!

Yum, just like Grandma used to make it.

Full story at Early onset of night.

Whet your appetite with, um, food?

It may be disgusting, but it’s not a whole chicken "pressed through a sieve" and it doesn’t get an "ammonia bath." Congrats for perpetuating a misleading meme, Kaw. http://bit.ly/ajty7c
