The story of an epic 21st century bayonet charge

When you hear “bayonet charge,” you probably think of tragic stories from the American Civil War or World War I, not the twenty-first century. But in 2004, a group of British soldiers were caught in an ambush so close and ferocious that they had no choice but to get off their vehicle and fix their bayonets.
The fighting lasted two hours. There wasn’t a single casualty among the British, but the soldiers they were fighting weren’t so lucky. It was the first time the Brits used their bayonets since 1982.
