Unprecedented blue whale congregation off California coast

Drawn by huge amounts of krill concentrated at the surface, the whales spend plenty of topside, giving whale watchers constant thrills. The downside? Whales near both the coast and the surface are more prone to ship strikes, which have killed several blue whales in the past few years.
