What if Apple designed cars?
Posted by staff / January 8, 2010Forget the Apple tablet, could the iCar be the next big thing from Steve Jobs and crew? Not likely, but Bono (and his infinite wisdom regarding the auto industry) would like to see Jobs and Jonny Ive, Apple’s Senior VP of Industrial Design, dive into the driver’s seat of car design.
In a New York Times op-ed published last week, the U2 frontman argued that cars need to go back to the days of being seen as a “sexual object” and who else can bring sexy back like Steve Jobs?
The Huffington Post asked readers to use their finest Photoshop skills and imagine what an Apple auto might look like. The result? A few passive aggressive swipes at the company and a handful of interesting ideas. Check out the full gallery and feel free to submit your own iAuto.

If Apple made cars:
* You’d have to pay to keep the onboard software updated
* You’d only be able to drive them on Apple-certified roads
* The cupholder would only accept a proprietary Apple cup
* There would only be one pedal
* There’d be more work put into the dashboard than the safety features
* You could have any color you want – provided it’s brushed aluminium
