A new test for brain damage limits radiation risk

If you, God forbid, get into a car accident and knock your head, then you might have to go to the hospital to get a scan for brain damage. But it’s not as simple as that, unfortunately. Brain scans expose patients to tons of radiation, and sometimes the risk of that scan outweighs the risk of concussion. In short, if you’re going to get a brain scan you need to run some risk calculations. But what if there were another way? A new blood test offers a safer means of testing for brain damage by looking for proteins in the blood.
