Trump advisor Roger Stone arrested
Posted by Josh Taylor / January 25, 2019Roger Stone had a rude awakening in the wee hours of Friday morning: FBI agents pounding on his door. They had come to arrest him:
“FBI. Open the door.”

If it’s hard to see, Vox summarizes the events:
One of them knocks on the front door and loudly says, “FBI. Open the door.” There’s a beat of silence, then “FBI. Warrant.” Presumably, that means a warrant for Stone’s arrest.
The next images are of the open front door, where agents are speaking and arresting Stone. They are far from the camera, so it’s unclear what they said to each other. (It’s worth remembering that due to the government shutdown, these FBI officials who arrested Stone are also not getting paid.)
Stone is scheduled to appear in court at 11 am, EST. According to NPR:
In the indictment, the special counsel’s office alleges that Stone was in regular contact both with WikiLeaks, listed as “Organization 1,” and the Trump campaign during critical times around the release of emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee and a top Clinton campaign official.
The New York Times noted that the Trump administration is trying to distance itself:
The White House press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, sought to broadly distance Mr. Trump from the charges. “The charges brought against Mr. Stone have nothing to do with the president,” she told CNN. Asked whether he directed a campaign aide to contact Mr. Stone about the WikiLeaks emails, she repeated that the charges did not involve the president.
