The war over little planes
Posted by Josh Taylor / November 11, 2017There’s a war going on in the skies above us, a war you probably know nothing about. But don’t worry, you’re not in any danger––it’s a war over who controls the small plane market. Because many airports in the United States can only be accessed by small planes, the U.S. is a potentially huge market for smaller jets. This video describes the companies at war for the U.S. small plane market.

Posted by Josh Taylor / November 10, 2017Michael Klimkowski has an uncanny resemblance to Joel Osteen, and he can even do a decent southern accent. So naturally he tried to sneak into a Joel Osteen preaching event as the man himself. He made it all the way onto the stage before (a very foul mouthed) security guard finally caught him and called the police. The police, for the record, thought the whole thing was hilarious and nothing came of it.

Posted by Josh Taylor / November 10, 2017When Sheriff Hopper annoyed his adopted daughter Eleven, he made the triple-decker Eggo extravaganza to appease her. If that looked good to you, first of all you have a sugar addiction and second, you probably still want to make it. Babish teaches you to make that dish in this video, but that’s not the reason you should watch this. Instead, you should watch because he teaches you to make yeasted waffles and an elevated Eggo-stravaganza.
Read MoreChris Pratt trolls Japanese translator
Posted by Josh Taylor / November 10, 2017Chris Pratt has a great sense of humor, and he’s an amazing improvisor––if you’ve ever seen the Parks and Rec bloopers and outtakes reel, for example, you know that some of the funniest jokes on the show were off-the-cuff Prattisms. In this video, he tries to convince a Japanese audience that his translator went rogue. When he’s done with his little prank, he turns on the patented Chris Pratt charm.
Read MoreMan makes his girlfriend an amazing commercial to sell her old car
Posted by Josh Taylor / November 9, 2017Trying to sell a used car can be a real pain…especially what that car is a 1996 Honda Accord with well over a hundred thousand miles. No one wants that kind of car. So this guy got creative in order to help his girlfriend out and made this commercial. With drone shots, a cat involved, multiple locations, and a bunch of other moving parts, this video obviously took a long time to make.
The hard work paid off though, and the car was put on eBay where it reached $150,000 before eBay shut the auction down on suspicion of fraud. The couple is planning to put the car back up on eBay and try to raise that much money again, though.

Posted by Josh Taylor / November 8, 2017Unlike dogs (which are amazing), cats don’t easily give away their love. It takes awhile to earn a cat’s loyalty, and once you get it you get it. But should you do anything to betray that loyalty, you’re up cat creek without a litter box. Look what happens to this owner when she makes the mistake of petting a local stray. As soon as the cat gets a smell, it goes bananas.
Read MoreCan you inherit trauma?
Posted by Josh Taylor / November 8, 2017It may seem like a strange to consider that trauma can be inherited. Psychologically speaking, of course, it makes sense. A traumatized person might be more likely to treat their children different and therefore pass down the effects of the original trauma. But biologically speaking it is possible that trauma could be passed down. Studies reveal that children of trauma victims have similar biological indicators of trauma as their parents. But there is still more research to be done before we can tell how much trauma is passed down and for how long.
Read MoreHow to read any barcode
Posted by Josh Taylor / November 8, 2017There are some things in the world that just seem fundamentally boring. Take bar codes, for example. Who could find a lousy bar code interesting? Well, give this video a chance, and you’ll start to see why bar codes are actually really interesting. For example, after watching this video you’ll not only know what the bars mean, but you’ll know what the numbers mean and how scanners read bar codes from any angle.

Read MoreProof that Dot Com from 30 Rock is a genius
Posted by Josh Taylor / November 7, 2017Let’s get this out of the way real quick: 30 Rock was a genius show. Part of what made it so good was the way it folded in subtle side stories or subtle character traits without ever drawing explicit attention to them. For example, if you binged the show you might have realized that Dot Com is actually a really smart guy, even though he doesn’t have a lot of screen time. This video compiles all the times Dot Com showed off those big brains.
Read MoreL.A. Beasts tries to eat 9 million Scoville ramen
Posted by Josh Taylor / November 7, 2017L.A. Beast eats things that, frankly, no human should ever eat. Nine million Scoville units is almost unimaginably spicy. For context, a Jalapeno is about five thousand on the scale, cayenne is about fifty thousand, and a habanero is about a hundred and fifty thousand. If that doesn’t help, pepper spray is about five million. So basically imagine spraying yourself directly in the mouth with pepper spray––and even that isn’t hot enough to match what L.A. Beast tries to eat in this video.
Read MoreWhat’s the science of intermittent fasting?
Posted by Josh Taylor / November 7, 2017Scientific research is increasingly demonstrating that special diets do not work; any weight you lose tends to come back. The latest trend is not what you eat, but how often. Intermittent fasting, as it’s called, is all the rage, especially among fitness gurus and tech types. This video explains the scientific benefits of fasting––with the caveat, however, that there needs to be a lot more research before any claims can be justified. So don’t jump into fasting unless you want to take the risk.
