over 1.2 billion people in India, It should be less than half a million who eat Appam as their breakfast. That too, Not on a daily basis. People in Kerala take it as breakfast 3-4 days a week, People in Tamil nadu eat Appam once in a month, which is an occasional food. Rest of India do not even know Appam.
I hope Kate should have visited Kerala on a holiday. 🙂

Agree. I am an Indian. I’ve never heard of Appam.
An interesting topic, But not a well researched writeup. It needs lot of stats and they shouldn’t take countries like India, where we eat hundreds of different and regular breakfasts which change between every 50 miles.
Boerewors is almost never eaten at breakfast… and you will be hard pressed to find anyone eating it with scrambled ostrich eggs
