CA high school students give Nazi salute, sang Nazi songs
Posted by Robert Leonard / August 20, 2019Students at Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California, posted a video of themselves singing a Nazi marching song while giving the “Heil Hitler” salute to Instagram. A group of about ten boys from the water polo team did these things last year during an award ceremony.
“While the district cannot comment on student discipline, the school did address this situation with all involved students and families,” a district spokesperson said. “The district adheres to strong policies about harassment and cultural sensitivity, and we condemn all acts of anti-Semitism and hate in all forms. We remain focused on educating students about cultural sensitivity and are committed to holding students accountable, educating them on the consequences of their choices, and the impact these actions have on our schools and community at large.”
The district declined to state, however, if they disciplined anyone for the event. One parent, speaking anonymous, said that they were concerned that the school district never properly investigating the incident. It is also alarming that the school never addressed the issue within the wider community, a fact noted by director of the Anti Defamation League’s Orange County chapter Rabbi Peter Levi.
The song the students sang is, according to one professor, very obscure. The professor wonders if they learned from it on a forum or website.
