Johns Hopkins researchers say shrooms should be classified as a Schedule 4 drug
Posted by Josh Taylor / October 2, 2018Currently, shrooms, aka mushrooms, aka psilocybin, is currently classified as a Schedule I drug. That means it has no known medical potential, is potentially very harmful, and addictive. But a group of researchers at Johns Hopkins are arguing against the classification. But don’t get your hopes up. According to one of the researchers, “We want to initiate the conversation now as to how to classify psilocybin to facilitate its path to the clinic and minimize logistical hurdles in the future.” In other words, the goal is not to get shrooms into the hands of patients, but to make it easier for medical practitioners to use them.
