Why rocket launches happen in Florida

Rocket launches always happen in Florida; most of us take that for granted and never really think about it. There are actually specific reasons that rocket launches happen in Florida, and it has to do with physics. (Flat earthers, you’re going to want to skip this one because it relies on the so-called “round earth theory.”) Basically, launching a rocket closer to the equator gives the rocket a bit of a speed boost as it leaves the atmosphere.
