Well, some airlines have had enough of that nonsense. American Airlines, for one, has just banned animals including goats, hedgehogs, anything with tusks, insects, anything with horns or hooves, and more. Well, almost anything with hooves––miniature horses are OK, if they’ve been properly trained. So fly on, Lil Sebastian.

Read MoreWhy we are partly to blame for flights getting more uncomfortable
Posted by Josh Taylor / May 15, 2018If you’ve crammed yourself into a “Basic Economy” seat in the past year or so, after paying twenty-five bucks for your checked bag and your carry-on bag, then you know that flying is no longer very comfortable at all. In fact, flying is downright uncomfortable to the point of being torturous. Whose fault is that? We like to blame their airlines, but really it is our own fault––at least in part. That’s because airlines have figured out that the only thing we care about when we buy a plane ticket is price. Not safety, not comfort, nothing but price. So we’ve trained airlines to give us cheap tickets, whatever the cost.

In this video, Nerdwriter walks you through closing your Amazon account, which is a pretty excellent example of what’s called a “roach motel” design. Read MoreSome animals see the world in slow mo
Posted by Josh Taylor / May 14, 2018For humans, some days go by quickly and some days go by slowly. Professional athletes like baseball players or tennis players report that incoming balls appear to slow down right before they hit them. Scientists have figured out a test to see the general speed at which we process the world, which in turn tells us how time passes for people and for animals. Basically you can show animals lights flickering at different speeds, and that reveals how quickly they process the world.
